Lovable vs Bolt

Both build full apps from a chat box in your browser. Both have a Pro plan at $25 a month. The real difference is how they count usage: Lovable charges credits per message, Bolt counts tokens. That changes which one runs out first.

This page compares what they publish. Build results, where I give both the same spec and time it, aren't done yet.

What I'd pick today

For a small app you want to finish without paying, try Bolt's free plan first. 1M tokens a month is more room than 30 credits, as long as the project stays small. Once a project gets big, each Bolt message costs more tokens, and Lovable's per-message credits get easier to predict.

That's a reading of the pricing pages, not a test result. I'll update this when the habit tracker build is done.

The catch

Lovable: 30 credits a month. Lovable's own examples put a small edit at 0.5 credits and adding login at 1.2, so that's a small app, not a big one.

Bolt: Bolt says most tokens go to syncing your project files to the AI, so the bigger the project, the faster 1M runs out. Free sites carry Bolt branding.
